Morgan Toney is Cape Breton’s breakout roots artist. He melds the Scottish heritage of this Nova Scotian island with Mi’kmaq songs, stories, and language in his own genre of music “Mi’kmaltic,” meaning Mi’kmaq and Celtic. This legacy of bridging two worlds lives on in his songs and fiddling. Toney's music celebrates the L’nu legacy in Canadian culture and is part of his larger vision to bring people together, set differences aside, and walk toward a place he calls the “Promised Land”. Morgan Toney proudly welcomes the rest of Canada and the world to L’nu traditions as they contain many universal teachings. He is joined by fellow musician(s) Keith Mullins on Guitar, Vocals, and Percussion and Ryan Roberts on Mandolin and Vocals.
Brianna Lizotte is a JUNO nominated fiddle player from Edmonton Alberta. She grew up in a household where music was constantly played, whether it was from home videos or kitchen parties. At the age of 10, most of the musicians in the family passed away, so she took it upon herself to keep the music alive. This has led her to perform on many different stages such as the Honouring Ceremony at the JUNOs in 2025, being an Official showcasing artist at the 2025 Folk Music Ontario conference, various stages at the Edmonton Folk Festival under the Nikamowin program from 2022 to 2025, and travelling to Rome to support the Metis delegation during their meetings with the pope in 2022. Apart from performing, Brianna can be found teaching Metis History Through Music and Dance workshops to students across the province with her husband Ethan Graves and in studios recording for documentaries, interviews, albums, and short films. She looks forward to developing her voice in the music industry and continuing to honour her culture through fiddling.
